Robert James Alonso
Born January 28, 1944 to Alicia Alonso in Ybor City,
Tampa, Florida
Attended Adams State College in Alamosa, Colorado on a track scholarship, setting the University record in Triple Jump at 45'10.
Graduated in 1968 with a Master of Arts Degree
Moved to Fort Lauderdale in 1969 accepting a position at Nova Middle/High School
Took a leave of absence in 1973-74 to attend North Texas State College in Denton, Texas on an Assistant Fellowship to work on his Doctorate.
Returned to Nova then moved on to Attucks Middle School and finally ending his 37 year teaching career at Hollywood Hills High School where he was a Health/Physical Education Teacher, Cross Country and Track Coach, Football Coach , Athletic Trainer and Director and Department Head for the Physical Ed. Department.
Retired in June of 2005
Entered into Rest on January 30, 2006
He is loved and missed by his sons, Bobby, Tommy and James,
his half-brothers, Nunzio, Gino and Eugene and his half-sister, Debbie
as well as Paula, Lisa and all his fellow co-workers, students, athletes and friends
